The school is keen to foster the best possible relationships with the local community and is proud of its tradition of work in this area. We believe that the experience of helping others and being responsible for situations where others are reliant upon them brings out the best of self disciplineand reliability in pupils. At present, community education is part of the OCR course running in Key Stage Four which revolves around the twin aspects of care in the community and care of the community. Pupils are involved in a number of activities including visits to old people’s homes. The high profile given to this aspect of school life is reflected in the annual prize giving ceremony where an award is given to the two Year Eleven pupils who have made the most positive contribution to the community. Besides this the school involves itself in various local and national charitable fund raising.
